Dockmate® Receiver

The device our Dockmate® transmitters talk to. The Receiver translates the commands given through the transmitter and relays them to your boat's controls. The Receiver is in essence the link between the Dockmate® transmitter and your boat.

BIG_RECIVER_FRONT.jpg
  • The Dockmate® Receiver is a modular system. Every Receiver is assembled and programmed for a specific boat. The boat's equipment and the customer's wishes determine which modules are installed in the receiver. This means every Dockmate® is built to order and is more or less unique.

  • The receiver is connected directly (through cables) and/or indirectly (though cables and an extra CAN bus interface or gearbox driver) to all the necessary controls of your boat.

  • The Receiver supports all electronic controls, both analogue and digital (CAN).

CAN bus Interface

A new interface for seamless control over POD drives, and other specific propulsion systems.

  • The Dockmate® TWIST can now be connected to the Volvo Penta IPS system, thanks to our new CAN bus interface.

  • This Interface acts as an extra station in the system and doesn't require any calibration. It allows the skipper to move around the boat while keeping his fingers on the fully proportional joystick, making docking easier & less stressful!

  • We are working on future support for the Zeus POD system.

Gearbox driver

The Dockmate® Gearbox driver is a specially developed interface that allows Dockmate® to connect directly to the boat's gearbox.

GEARBOX_DRV.jpg
  • Allows Dockmate® to connect and communicate directly to the engine's gearbox.

  • This Interface allows Dockmate® to by-pass the ship's CAN bus system, thus avoiding any possible protocol incompatibility or problem.

  • In this case the warranty on the engine will not be declared void by the manufacturer.

Dockmate®

features and technical details

All boats with electronic engine controls can be equipped with the Dockmate® system, regardless of the length or type of the boat. Our transmitters are completely waterproof and float. They are only the size of an iPhone and have a very simple, clear layout.

In our most simple configuration, the SINGLE and TWIN transmitters send a coded digital signal to the receiver which operates the engine(s) and the horn. The system can be extended modularly to also control the bow thruster, stern thruster and windlass.

Operation is easy, accurate, safe and reliable, and can be done from any location aboard the boat. If the transmitter somehow slips out of your hands, then all systems immediately drop to neutral. There is also an automatic shut off after 30 minutes of non-use.

The Dockmate® signal reaches up to 50 meters (165 feet). The receiver is mounted behind the dashboard and measures about 22x22x6cm. Each Dockmate® system is unique and will not be disturbed by any other Dockmate®.

  •  Modular assembly of the receiver means each receiver can be fully customised in a couple of minutes; additional modules can be ordered anytime.

  • Dockmate® uses 2 way FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) communication with handshake and 88bit encoding. This ensures reliable communication between transmitter and receiver, and enables faultless operation of the Dockmate® system.

  • Dockmate® uses 88 bit encoding for reliable data transmission.

  • Transmitter operating range goes up to 50 meters (165 feet).

  • Easily switch-off the transmitter in a panic.

  • Our analog modules always feature double relays for improved safety.

  • Visual and audible confirmation on the transmitter informs the user about the communication status between the receiver and receiver.

  • Visual and audible status indication on the receiver.

  • Automatic shutdown of the transmitter after 30 minutes of non-use.

  • Easy to hide receiver (22x22x6cm). In most boats the receiver can be mounted behind the dashboard.

  • Automatic take command via the transmitter to make it the active station.

  • Dockmate® transmitters have a rubber finish, are waterproof and float.

  • You can connect up to 2 sources for the power supply to the receiver (12V or 24V) for increased safety.

  • The Receiver features waterproof connectors for all the cables.

  • Dockmate® is available in 433 and 868MHz.

  • The Dockmate® system comes with plug & play cables for most brands.

We can connect to the engines in 3 different ways:

  1. Analog.

  2. Digital, through sophisticated CAN bus technology.

  3. Directly onto the gearbox.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Dockmate® ?

Dockmate® is the latest in advanced, yet very affordable wireless remote-control technology for your boat. Dockmate® will allow you to operate your boat’s electronically-controlled engines, thrusters, anchor winch and horn from anywhere aboard your boat using a small handheld device!

Is there anything unique about Dockmate® ?

Yes, Dockmate® has several unique features:

  • Dockmate® uses a state-of-the-art bidirectional (2-way) FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) communication, with 88bit encoding and FM modulation on the 868MHz or 433MHz band, between the remote and receiver, thus ensuring superior range. The rolling code changes 5x per second over 5 different channels virtually eliminating any possible chance of interference.
  • Fully proportional, 3-axis joystick on the TWIST and TWIST VECTOR remotes.
  • Proportional throttle control (the more you push on the joystick, the more throttle is provided)
  • Horn function on EVERY remote at no extra charge.
  • Completely waterproof transmitters that float.
  • 3 year warranty with 30 day satisfaction or money back guarantee.
  • Customisable software to precisely adjust maximum and minimum throttle for engines and thrusters, if so desired. Unlike competitive brands which are not modifiable and are "what you see is what you get."
  • SINGLE & TWIN remote models have a flat keypad which is well-protected against accidental pressing of the keys.
  • SINGLE & TWIST remote models for single engine vessels.
  • TWIST VECTOR remote for Volvo Penta IPS. The TWIST VECTOR remote feels like an exact replica of the Volvo IPS joystick offering proportional throttle control for every function of the joystick… Including the twist function!
  • Dynamic positioning: if the boat is equipped with "Dynamic Positioning" or "Sky Hook", then that function can be activated through the TWIST VECTOR remote.
  • Redundant “fail-safe” technology with multiple relays.
  • Dockmate®'s modular design enables functions to be added at any time (e.g. if installing another thruster).
  • Dockmate® can be taken with you if you change boats, as the system can be modified to suit any vessel with electronic controls.

Can I use Dockmate® in Europe/Australia/the US/Asia/… ?

The Dockmate® system works all arount the world. Its wireless communication works either over the 868MHz or 433MHz FM band. In Europe we deliver Dockmate® in the 868MHz version. In the US, Australia and other countries we deliver Dockmate® in the 433MHz version.

What's the Dockmate® warranty policy ?

The Dockmate® warranty is 3 years and we also offer a 30 day satisfaction or money back guarantee. If the transmitters are accidentally dropped overboard, they will float and the warranty will not be voided! In the unlikely event that your Dockmate® ever needs to be serviced, it can be easily done by your country's Dockmate® distributor.

Is dual band better than single band ?

Simply stated: NO! Dockmate® uses an infinitely superior, state of the art 2-way FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) communication with handshake, 88bit encoding, and FM modulation on the 868MHz or 433 MHz frequency band (depending on your region) that provides superior range. Dockmate® operates in either the 868MHz or the 433MHz FM frenquency band. In each of those bands there are 20 channels it can use. FHSS means Dockmate®'s communication chooses a random set of 5 channels in the entire band of 20 channels, and then contantly hops from one frequency to another. This FHSS rolling code changes 5x per second over 5 different channels, virtually eliminating any possible chance of interference. Dual band units use only one channel on 433 MHz and one channel on 918 MHz, transmitting only 1-way on AM modulation. The transmission alternates between the two single channels allowing for possible interference and dead spots when you walk around your boat.

What is the range of Dockmate® ?

The operating range of Dockmate® with the standard antenna is approximately 50m or 165ft. We offer an antenna extension cable that improves the range to over 150m or 500ft! There is no need to install an expensive range extender/RF repeater for vessels over 83ft.

How do I know if the Dockmate® has lost communication ?

Dockmate® has a range of approximately 50m or 165ft. In the unlikely event that the Dockmate® remote loses communication with the receiver, the remote will sound an alarm when a button is pressed, and all functions will immediately default to the OFF or NEUTRAL setting.

Can other Dockmate® remotes interfere with my boat ?

No, due to the type of RF communication we use, it virtually eliminates any possible interference from other Dockmate® systems. (See question: Is dual band better than single band?)Also, each remote is linked to its own receiver, which means only your Dockmate® remote can control your boat.

Does Dockmate® have throttle control ?

Yes, Dockmate® offers optional proportional throttle control on the TWIST remote (the more you push on the joystick, the more throttle is provided) and a predetermined throttle with the TWIN remote (push a button and the throttle jumps up to a predetermined RPM).

Is the Dockmate system new ?
